Which Mineral Resembles Anorthite?

Is anorthosite the same as anorthite? This is a common question due to linguistic similarities, but it’s important to clarify the distinction. Anorthosite is a type of rock that primarily consists of plagioclase group minerals. While anorthite is indeed one of the minerals in this group, it is not the sole constituent of anorthosite. Instead, anorthosite is typically composed of labradorite as its primary component, and it may also contain minerals such as bytownite and andesine, all of which belong to the plagioclase group.
